This week’s blog post topic is all about the personal brand of a person and how we can use that brand and create an “ad” that is creative, eye catching, and novel. All in order to attract the attention from future employers. I will be going over my own personal brand as an employee and further talk about how I will present that information in my “ad”.
When it comes to talking about my personal brand there are some clear things that I always talk about because I believe that they reflect me and my actions and they are things that employers do look for. My personal brand includes my multitasking/organizational skills and my interesting affinity with stress. My multitasking skills come from being a full time student and full time worker, where I have to find ways that I can combine tasks to get them done on time with quality. When it comes to stress, I tend to work better the more stress is introduced because it provides me with extra motivation.
Now how will I be able to get all of these into an interesting pack that employers can digest. One great way that we have been taught about is to use the STAR method. The STAR method stands for situation, taste, action, and result. The situation is important because this provides a lot of visuals in the employer’s head. Task is the call to action and the plan. Action is the actual actions that I have taken to deal with the situation. And results are quantifiable results that give the employer a visual measurement of my contributions. Being as visual and descriptive as possible helps create less confusion and shows that I am able to articulate my own brand and actions well.
Overall, a personal brand is important but it is important to be able to effectively communicate that brand well to employers.
