Hello! My name is Mel. I am a 4th year Applied CS Major with my focus being in Human-Computer Interaction. I also have a minor in Economics. I am currently located in Central Oregon (PST), where I have a full time job in healthcare working as a PR coordinator, so I would say I have a diverse background when it comes to work and academic experience.
I originally got into computer science because I wanted to better understand cybersecurity and eventually work as an analyst, but through learning about the software design process and the psychology behind creating an accessible/effective user experience, I became drawn towards HCI.
I have the most experience with web development and I am currently working on developing my knowledge with IOS/Android development. Because of this I am especially interested in the Crowd Source Shopping app, Crowd Source Travel Planner app, or the Dating App for Animal Adoption. I am also very open to developing new skills in AI or AR for one of these projects, as it would be a great opportunity to work with tools that are industry standard at this point.
In general, I am very excited for this term and year, and to work with some amazing people to develop our capstone!
