Introduction

Why did I choose to go into Computer Science?

I had only been working for a year as a Chemist in biopharmaceutical’s and had recently transferred over to the Quality Control department. A lot of the job aids the department used were based in VBA which comes with Microsoft products, such as Word or Excel. I started picking up the language and working on small projects such as a label maker and automations with our LIMS system. This ended up kickstarting my interest in computer science and I enrolled in OSU’s program a couple months later.

What do I hope to learn from the course?

I hope to have the opportunity to pull everything I’ve learned from the program and use it to create a project from start to finish. I’m hoping to learn more about collaborative work with a larger group, on a larger scaled programming project.

What type of person am I, in terms of a group dynamic?

In a group setting I typically fall somewhere between a contributor and collaborator. I typically place a large focus on tasks that need to be completed on a group and individual level.

Am I worried about working in groups? What do I plan on doing to make the experience better?

Overall, I’m not worried about working in a group. I feel like every class leading up to this has featured group work in varying degrees which makes me feel prepared to tackle this. I plan on making sure I use good and regular communication with the members of my group and carry my own weight.
