Today I am writing about the engadget review on the Samsung galaxy tab 7 plus. To start things off I like how the reviewer cuts right to the chase and does not sweet talk his product. He talks about the downsides while talking about the specifications of the phone. I like how he did this because he does not sound biased. Sounding biased usually portrays a bad image because the audience won’t trust the author as well. When he talks about the downsides about it I let my guard down because I know he’s telling the truth. Furthermore, the way he presents the product is effective and efficient. He goes the modern route by not having a professional background and camera but more-so an “ordinary bob” image to make the audience feel comfortable. He specifically talks about a specific piece of hardware which is an infrared light sensor. What this does is it acts a communicator the same ones remote controls communicate with television. This new tablet has that exact function where the infrared light sensor allows a consumer to use the tablet as a remote controller. Another strong point in the video is how he uses the product while reviewing it. The visual images that go along with the video help and the showing how the new hardware works is also very effective. When shows the actual tablet function it helps the audience to follow along with him and allows him to connect with them.  Also showing the tablet in action is more interesting than him just talking about it. As the video progresses it does not get boring and I think it is because of the flow of the video. Overall the video was enjoyable to watch and the author did it accordingly.

This week I have decided to write about the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer that is about to come out. The reason I am writing about this tablet is because it is the world’s first quad-core tablet. What that means is that it’s CPU (central processing unit) has four cores as opposed to two cores that most tablets have at the moment. The screen size is a 10.1 inch screen with an Super IPS+ Gorilla Glass. This means that the resolution on the screen is 1280 x 800 which will make the screen super crisp and clear. It has 1GB of RAM, GPS capabilities, a gyroscope, and two cameras. There is a front-facing camera that is 1.2 megapixels and a back camera that is 8 megapixels and capable of 1080p HD recording. It will also get an update to Ice Cream Sandwich by the end of the year.



As you can see here, the processing power the new Tegra 3 quadcore CPU is more efficient with battery life because it is a smaller processor.  Video consumption is saved by 61% which is a dramatic increase over the tegra 2 processors.

In this chart, you can see the shear processing power of the new quad-core CPU.  The new quad-core CPU is twice as fast as the tegra 2. This comes to me as no surprise because the new tegra 3 has twice the core’s from the previous tegra 2 CPU.

The specification’s on this tablet is phenomenal and should be future-proof for a while although technology advances quickly so who knows.

This week, I’ve decided to write about the tweets that Engadget, which is a technology website that write about modern day technology and gadgets. Engadget tweets, as expected, all of their articles and links to their websites such as “Amazon outs Galaxy Nexus release date, available in the UK on November 17th http://engt.co/t743YG.” It is interesting to see the amount of tweets that they tweet about on the iPhone. I am following up with a review of the iPhone 4S in respect to Engadget. In one of their tweets they tweet “iPhone 4S review http://engt.co/oPXMuL” and I took a look at it.

In the review, the engadget editor talks about all the aspects of the iPhone and it’s details. The first detail that he talks about is hardware. One of the major hardware improvements that he talks about is the processor of the phone. The original iPhone 4 had a 1 ghz processor but the new iPhone has a dual-core 1ghz processor, which means it is twice as fast as the original iPhone. He also talks about the new camera improvement in the iPhone. The old iPhone has a 5 megapixel lens while the new iPhone has an 8 megapixel lens. The new quality improvement is far beyond what I had expected. One of the biggest thing that Apple has touted about the iPhone is Siri. Siri is a virtual assistant that helps the iPhone owner with daily things. It really is as advertised, in the aspect that it is a virtual personal assistant that learns daily. It is truly amazing how technology advances. The bottomline “Apple clearly has a winner with its best iPhone to date, but if you were gunning for the iPhone 5, you’ll be best continuing the wait.”

I like the style the editor wrote his review article. He lays out all the important aspects of the phone that a consumer would like to know and he also gives his opinion on the matter. There is also a chart for pros and cons that give a gist of the pros and cons of the phone.

Getting the most compatible and latest phone can be a hassle. I interviewed my roommate who was on a search for a new phone since his contract was up. He stated that “trying to find the “one” [smartphone] was so hard because I can’t decide on which one to get.” When I asked him which one he decided to get he said “iPhone 4S.”

Now I can see why he would have gotten the iPhone 4S. First of all, it was a brand new phone that just came out this month. Also the internals on the phone have been revamped so that it can handle more strenuous activities and upgrade the quality of the overall phone. The camera has been upgraded to 8 megapixels which my roommate stated “it could easily replace a $200 camera.” Also iOS which is the iPhone’s operating system has been upgraded so that consumers have even more options and features than ever before. One of the main features that came out for the phone was a voice assistant called Siri. It has an amazing and very futuristic feel to it because you can asked the phone “what’s the weather like today?” and Siri will respond according to your location. It is basically a virtual assistant with artificial intelligence. The craziest part of it all is that it learns over time and adapts to the user.

For my roommate, this was the perfect phone all he wanted was “something that was easy to use and future-proof.” The iPhone 4S gave him all of that but he was also looking at the new Samsung Galaxy S2 which has the same specifications as the iPhone 4 but the operating system is Android powered by Google. The reason he chose the iPhone over the Galaxy S2 was solely based on the operating system. He likes iOS better because of the app selection, he stated that the iPhone has better apps than android. Overall he said the experience wasn’t as bad as he thought and he couldn’t be anymore happier with his decision.
