Brad Cardinal vowed to exercise every day for five years.

 

Brad Cardinal, possibly Oregon’s most motivated exerciser, hasn’t missed a day since Oct. 1, 2009. Given his profession, it stands to reason the 50-year-old professor gives lots of thought to exercise. But he started toying with the never-miss-a-day notion after he had surgery to remove colon cancer in 2006. He seemed the ideal fellow, in other words, to ask to share advice on getting and staying motivated to exercise. Cardinal uses those very letters – MOTIVE – as a way to remember key points on the topic.
