How are you using AI in your project (or another one)? What are some pros and cons? Has it made you a better programmer?
I think the use of AI is perfectly fine in a coding project, though people should choose wisely about when to use it. For small tasks like generate a random string based on certain requirements, I have no problem using AI. Because I already know what kind of program I’ll write, and using AI just makes it faster. This is to say, people need to use AI responsibly – they need to already have it in their mind of how a piece of code should be written, so they can judge the accuracy of the code when it is generated by AI.
The pros of using AI is obviously time saving. Just talk about typing speed – no human can type a 600 words answer to a response in less than 1 minute. The cons is that the accuracy of the answer might not be good. It needs to be reviewed by someone who has experience in the field.
Since I rarely use AI, I can’t comment on whether it made me a better programmer. In my opinion, programming takes a lot of practice. For people in the entry level like me, using AI should be limited.
