Hi there, welcome to my blog! My name is Zhimei and I’m currently studying computer science at Oregon State University. Previously, I worked at PwC for 1.5 years as an associate in the international tax financial services group in New York City. I’m a licensed CPA in New York State.
I was the TA for CS 162 (Introduction to Computer Science II), CS 290 (Web Development), and I’m currently the TA for CS 325 (Analysis of Algorithms). I’m very interested in software development because I like the process of understanding a business logic and building a software using different technologies. I also love to learn new technologies and explore different things I can do with them.
I think learning is a lifetime process. When I first decided to switch my career from accounting to computer science, someone from my family were not supportive. Some of them is working in the IT industry and they told me they need to learn new technologies even in their 50s. But this is exactly what I want! I understand some people want to put hands off and manage people eventually, but I’m a doer and I like to get my hands on things. I think being an engineer and building things are super cool.
Besides school, I love travelling, hiking, camping, and weight-lifting. I’ve been to 15 national parks in US in the past 2 years. I camped in Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion. Below is a picture about me hiking the angel’s landing trail in Zion.
