On the track of space exploration, there are countries as a unit for development, such as China, Russia, etc.; there are also private companies, such as Elon Musk’s spaceX, Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin, and so on. Different players have different exploration goals. For example, Elon, Musk want to explore Mars. But generally speaking, apart from the application of satellites, space technology has not been used in many other commercial aspects. In the future, space technology may be used in these two areas.

First: the development of 6G. The realization of communication schemes from 1G to 5G is based on ground base stations. However, because the power consumption of 5G base stations is too large, the construction price is also very high. Therefore, the cost of laying 5G base stations is very large. So in the future, if humans want to upgrade 6G communication technology, it is imperative to find a way to replace base stations. One of my ideas is to use a large number of satellites to cooperate with the existing ground base stations after transformation. By launching a large number of near-Earth satellites to achieve 24-hour coverage of satellite signals to all regions of the earth, and then through the transformation of the ground base station to cooperate with the interaction between satellite signals and mobile phone signals. If this scheme can be realized, then in theory, in any corner of the world, every communication device can have a signal and be connected to the Internet, and due to the high-speed network speed brought by 6G, the realization of the Internet of Everything has the most solid foundation. . And SpaceX’s Starline project is similar to this idea.

Second: use rockets to transport goods. Can you imagine transporting dozens of tons of cargo from the West Coast of the United States to somewhere in Africa in less than an hour? With current technology, no aircraft or ship can do this. But in the future the rocket can accomplish this goal. By launching a rocket carrying dozens of tons of cargo, the rocket then quickly reaches its destination through Earth’s low-Earth orbit. This is similar to the principle of an ICBM. But unlike ICBMs, which eventually explode, rockets don’t. This is also related to the current development direction of space technology. SpaceX is now constantly developing rocket recovery technology. In the future, if the rocket can be recovered by other rocket launch bases on the ground after launch, then the launch cost of the rocket will be greatly reduced, and the possibility of the cargo or people carried by the rocket will become possible. Perhaps in the future, ordinary people can also reach any corner of the world in a very short period of time. And it is not the high-speed train that beats the plane, but the rocket.

Today I want to talk about the future commercial development of space technology.
