My name is Ryu. Yeah, like Ryu from Street Fighter… or lately, its been “Rue” from Hunger Games? Or just call my Ryan like all of my elementary school teachers.

I started my journey of coding in 2020. Working in healthcare amidst COVID, I learned something big about myself… commitment to service was not enough for me to maintain my sanity in the lab. So, I started learning javascript. And made my first big program! Chess using vanilla Javascript and HTML. So interesting right? Not. Yet, I learned a lot struggling through it, going back and forth between code and browser. And the struggle here was so much more meaningful than my time struggling in the hospital.

After 2 years of this, I decided its time to look for more formal education and began OSU. My speed-run through the program is almost finished. I had my struggles in the classroom and learned a thing or two (or lack of) about time management. And now, the finish line is in my sights.

I want to finish the program on a high note and so I promised myself I’ll manage my time better (fingers crossed, just in case). I hope to do something cool in this course and I look forward to working with the instructor, TA’s and my peers.

Ryan Yano

Hi!
