<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nI always thought I would be satisfied meeting people from all walks of life, creating smile on the person stepping into my operatory, and enjoying the relationships that I would build with my patients. I do enjoy getting to know the patients and their families while sharing my dental knowledge and caring for their teeth. However, I was feeling unchallenged operating the same duties day after day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nOne day I was browsing the book section at Costco, and I noticed a book titled \u201cMy First Coding Book\u201d which is written for 5 to 7 years old. I was thinking in my head what is this coding thing that a little kid needs to learn, and I had no idea what it was. As I watched my first introduction to computer science video on YouTube, I was mesmerized in the art and application of programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n My desire to learn more led me to the journey of pursuing a bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science. Writing code is like solving puzzles to me. First, I need to understand the requirements. Then I need to see if I can break it into smaller, workable pieces, and figure out what data structures and\/or algorithms to use. Finally, I can piece everything together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The satisfaction of seeing my program running after putting time and effort into a particularly difficult program never gets old. The most valuable lesson I have learned so far is being able to break a problem into smaller problems and pick up and learn unfamiliar languages and\/or frameworks as needed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I am entering my final quarter at Oregon State University.
