In my initial rankings, it was very important that there was a high regard for retirement plans (401k with matching), as well as health insurance and paid time off for sick days and vacation. These are the more crucial benefits that I would want in any job situation because it covers the bases of all factors that are relevant to me at this time. A retirement plan is important because you can never start saving too early and this will accumulate and leave you better off once you are at that stage in your life. Health insurance is a must because you can never expect what could happen, during or outside of work that could leave you hurt or sick and not being able to work, with this program the company can give compensation that is beneficial to the health of their employees so that they can have an easier time getting healthy and the service they need to get back to work. Paid time off is important because this gives its employees a balance and break from the hardships at work and allows them to take the time necessary to recharge if they are sick and or need a vacation. These are my top priorities when it comes to compensation benefits, but after looking at the lectures and reading materials there are others that stand out that could be beneficial at certain stages of my life. Child care and elder care could come into play once I reach an older age when either I decide to have children and or my grandparents need a place to live and be taken care of. If I still want to be successful in my job and attentive this would be very beneficial so I wouldn’t have to worry about finding or paying for childcare and the same if any of my elders need assistance. There are a multitude of reasons companies offer different and a variety of compensation packages and that is because of their budget, as well as to fit the needs of their employees so that they can perform to the best of their ability and minimize any setbacks and or more hardships they may face as they get older.
