Large-scale testing
Four large-scale mass timber compartments will be tested. The details of each test are provided here with regards to fuel type and encapsulation. Each compartment will have a consistent fuel load and compartment size:
Compartment size (interior dimensions): 9′-4″ (width) x 19′-4″ (length) x 8′-2″ (height)
Fuel load: 800 MJ/m2
Mass timber: all CLT is 5-ply southern yellow pine V2 CLT; all glue laminated timber is spruce-pine-fir
