It’s been a long time since I’ve done any blogging, but I’m taking the computer science capstone class at Oregon State University and it requires a regular blog so I’m gonna do my best!
A bit about me, I’m a site reliability engineer by day, which is software engineering adjacent. I do a lot of stuff with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Python, BASH, etc. It’s pretty cool and technical, but also very behind the scenes so you really only get noticed if things break…
Other than that, I have a few hobbies, as well as a miniature human.
Video games are probably my biggest hobby, by hours of life. Lately I’ve been mostly playing JRPGs in Japanese in preparation for taking the N1 level Japanese Language Proficiency Test this December, which is totally not an insane thing to schedule for finals week of my last quarter in school. Currently I’m partway through Trails in the Sky SC and Yakuza 0.
Today as a palate cleanser I’m playing Frog Detective 2 which is adorable and I recommend the series to anyone!
Other non-Japanese games I enjoy are basically anything from Zachtronics or Spiderweb Software. Jeff Vogel of Spiderweb Software wrote one of my favorite tweets:
and also gave this awesome talk at GDC:
I also might be a bit partial to Spiderweb Software because my name is in the tester credits for a few of their games!
Oh, I’ve recently taken up bike riding, partly because I got “orange pilled” by watching a bunch of NotJustBikes videos. I have an electric bike and an acoustic bike. The former is better for errands and long distances, and the latter is better for aggravating asthma.
That is all for today.
