It’s sort of bittersweet ending this class. I learned so much that I know I will use in my design career and life in general. The ideas of empathy, design management, the system of prototyping, and all the useful tips from the videos and readings. I stepped into this class not knowing what design thinking even was, and now I can see it everywhere around me. I just wanted to say, thank you to everyone from this class for teaching me things that changed the way I see the world.,

I think this weeks’ cards have an overarching theme too them. Refinement. We’ve been discussing refinement and the design thinking process over the course of this class, but it never really hit me just how much designers use the ideas we’ve discussed. I saw so many terms and phrases that directly relate to the class’s teachings. Along with this, I see the idea of implementation shine through. Not only from implementing ideas learned from this class into what we design, but implementing them into how we perceive the world around us. Design truly is everywhere, and one must have the eyes to see and appreciate all it does for us.
Overall, I think this week has been a pretty productive one. The TED talk about a world without prisons really made me think about how others might confront that problem. Along with that, I really liked the idea of things not being considered “weird” and instead thinking of them as “new” or “different”. As someone who had a very hard time making lasting friendships it really hits home to me to try and look at everything with a fresh and curious set of eyes, even if it seems taboo or wrong to you. This week I feel like going with the flow and seeing where life takes you is a solid choice. Being too prepared can bring bad things.
Blog Post Week 3
Overall, I think this week really opened my eyes to what design thinking truly is. Yes, it’s a design based major. Yes, when I tell someone I’m a design and innovation management major I don’t exactly know how to go more in depth. Now, however, I know why I’m studying in this field. To unite creative thinkers from all kinds of different disciplines. Bringing together graphic designers and computer scientists or chefs and biologists. The sky truly is the limit when it comes to design thinking and all it can aid with.
