What Makes A Interview

In my personal experience all interviews are different and have their own structures for the company’s well-being. Each company has different demands it’s required to fill. With that comes the different talents, and skills interviewees acquire. I began interviewing at the age of eighteen and till now have noticed they continue to evolve. Although at the time I was interviewing for retail I was still able to identify what made my interview at that time a good or bad one.

What made my interview a good experience was the preparedness and questionaries that were given. However, what demonstrated not the best interview was the lack of time, and information about the position. When it came to a good interview the managers preparedness was clear when mentioning job tasks, duties, and skills that were needed in order to be successful. As mentioned in “First, Break All the Rules: What the World’s Greatest Managers Do” when selecting a candidate for recruitment there are many aspects to keep in mind one of the more important ones is searching for talent.

In doing so I was a great candidate for the position and because I advanced in this position I was given the privilege to work independently . As mentioned in the text, “If you don’t select for talent then, you shouldn’t give people leeway.” This manager demonstrated to me they knew what talents they were needing and in doing so granted job independence. Furthermore, I’ve also had the opposite experience whereas I took a job position because I was given a different idea of what was needed. I realized through time I was not given clear instructions and found myself not succeeding in this field. The manager conducting the interview gave me little to no time to ask the questions I usually would. Overall, as a manager when conducting an interview it essential to be knowledgeable, and personable for the position and organization.
