{"id":15,"date":"2008-10-27T09:07:45","date_gmt":"2008-10-27T16:07:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seagrant.oregonstate.edu\/blogs\/wetvet\/?p=15"},"modified":"2008-10-27T09:07:45","modified_gmt":"2008-10-27T16:07:45","slug":"some-upcoming-educational-opportunities-in-ornamental-fish-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/wetvet\/2008\/10\/27\/some-upcoming-educational-opportunities-in-ornamental-fish-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Some upcoming educational opportunities in ornamental fish health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment--><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial\"><span>I wanted to make you all aware of two upcoming continuing education opportunities, the Aquatic Ecology and Koi Health Academy and the Aquatic section of the <a href=\"http:\/\/avma.org\" target=\"_blank\">American Veterinary Medical Association<\/a> Annual meeting. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial\"><span>This will be the third year that Oregon Sea Grant Extension and the College of Veterinary Medicine has partnered with Rail City Garden Center to coordinate the speakers, seminar and wet lab for the Aquatic Ecology and Koi Health Academy. The program has been well received by past participants. Here is some more information from the press release:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span>In an effort to preserve the knowledge and awareness of Koi health and water ecology, Rail City Garden Center is pleased to announce the <\/span><span><strong>3<sup>rd<\/sup> Annual<\/strong><\/span><span> <strong>\u201cGreater Nevada Aquatic Ecology &amp; Koi Health Academy.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span>A one of a kind event in North America, we have in place an event scheduled for <\/span><span><strong>February 28<sup>th<\/sup> and March 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2009<\/strong><\/span><span>.<\/span><span><span> <\/span>This event will be held at the University of Nevada, College of Agriculture building, located in beautiful downtown Reno Nevada.<span> <\/span>Two tracks available:<span> <\/span>Pond Professional and Veterinarian track.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span>Some of the featured speakers include:<span> <\/span><strong>Dr. Tim Miller-Morgan, DVM \u2013 <\/strong><\/span><span>Oregon State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Oregon Sea Grant Extension; <strong>Dr. Scott Weber, VMD, MS &#8211; <\/strong><\/span><span>University of California, College of Veterinary Medicine; <strong>Dr. Richard Strange<\/strong><\/span><span>, <strong>PhD &#8211; <\/strong><\/span><span>University of Tennessee, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife; <strong>Dr. Allen Riggs, DVM<\/strong><\/span><span> \u2013 Hawaii Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture Development Program and <strong>Dr. David S. This is the <a href=\"http:\/\/avmaconvention.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">AVMA annual meeting<\/a> which will be in Seattle. We will be offering 4 days of aquatic medicine training with a focus on pet fish. Additionally we will be offering a seminar and wet lab on shellfish medicine.
