Through taking these three tests, I found that I had a low amount (35) on the type A personality report, meaning that I “generally trust others, and willing to open up emotionally and value relationships for the sake of the people involved, instead of what they can do for me.” (Psychology Today,2022). My problem focused coping test (78) showcased I often use strategies to cope with stress, which I am glad to hear as my profession can be very stressful at times. The life stress inventory test revealed that my life has low amounts of change and low chances of stress-induced breakdowns. With this in mind, steps I need to take within my career to manage stress should be taking a step back from the situation, calming down, then looking at it from different perspectives. In moments of anxiety I often find myself having tunnel vision, not realizing there is other options or interactions within the situation I can take.
Health conditions at risk in organizations include lack of activity, diabetes and high blood pressure (CDC,2022) . These can be influenced by stress level (factors such as long hours, heavy workload and job insecurity) and work environment (sitting at a desk all day or working close to fast food restaurants). Employers can help decrease these problems by creating open communication with employees, allowing them to describe where they feel the most stress and collaborating together to find ways to resolve such stress levels. A company can also analyze and manage the distribution of work on employees, along with give opportunities to stay active/healthy at work (providing optional group exercise classes before/after work hours, cafeteria with healthy food options for work lunches).
