Postdoc/PhD/MSc Student opportunities

If you are:

  • Enthusiast about plant physiology
  • Enthusiast about biochemistry
  • Enthusiast about plant genetics
  • Enthusiast about applied research
  • Enthusiast about weed
  • Enthusiast about working in a collaborative environment

Then it is very likely that you would be a great fit to our group. If you are interested in joining our group as a PhD or Masters student, shoot me an email:

We are hiring a faculty research assistant/technician. This is a full-time employment opportunity (not a graduate student assistantship).

The successful applicant will have important research and education responsibilities in my weed science program, the Department of Crop and Soil Science, and the OSU community.

Duties (summary, for full description see website above):

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, all phases of the Weed Science research program with specific duties that include design, evaluation and publication of weed science research studies. Greenhouse activities include growing plants, treating plants with pesticides using an enclosed spray chamber, evaluation of weed species response to pesticide treatments and others. Common experiments are evaluation of weed species response to temperature, drought stress, quantification of relative growth rate, dose-response experiments and many others. Laboratory activities include DNA/RNA extraction, DNA sequencing, library preparation for high-throughput sequencing, cloning, plant transformation, enzyme assays, design, evaluation and optimization of genetic markers for herbicide resistance identification. The incumbent will collaborate and assist project personnel, graduate students, other OSU faculty, and collaborate with other research and Extension programs with general research activities. This includes contributing to experimental design, management of research experiments, sampling, data collection and analyses, and dissemination of results. Training graduate and undergraduate students on laboratory skills is expected and will be a major responsibility of the incumbent. Additional responsibilities include assisting graduate students in the Weed Science Group with thesis research and supervising undergraduate student workers.
