For the first post I have a quick Q&A, just so you can get to know me and my thoughts going into the week and the start of the course.

  • Why did you choose to go into Computer Science?

I started CS at the University of Central Florida. At UCF you need to take a foundations exam in order to continue after taking CS1. Even tough I passed I struggled with the massive amount of math classes you need to take and the difficulty of them. After failing calc 3, I was more willing to switch degrees, just to get out and get a job. I switched over to IT and graduated with the idea that maybe could could still do development work but quickly realized its hard to get interviews for software jobs with an IT degree. I ended up getting a job as a cloud engineer at UKG where I am using my benefits there to pay my way to this CS degree at OSU. I love programming and after working IT for a few years I know for certain I want to work on a development team and create software. After struggling to breakthrough into the field I know CS is pretty much essential just to get your foot in the door so with this capstone project I am hoping to prove to myself and to employers I have what it takes.

  • Why did you choose the projects you did on the survey? What makes them interesting to you?

The top 3 projects I choose for this course were ML breakout, text adventure and Software Programming Quiz. I mostly wanted to choose easy ones for this capstone project. I am taking a few other classes in order to finish it up so I had to balance it with what I already knew with learning something new. ML breakout is the best because I am familiar with unity and c# so the only new thing would be getting into machine learning which would be a fun project to put on the resume. The other 2 are just the easiest ones I think that are left. The text adventure would be fun to do but still require a decent amount of work.

  • What do you hope to learn from your project?

I hope to learn how to work better with a team and I hope we can learn from each other. Machine learning would be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to getting my hands on it.
