Week 5 Blog Post: Typical VS. Maximum Performance
If I were currently in the situation that this business owner is in, I would hire Jaime. I think that consistency is better than being a slacker on the daily. Businesses function better when everyone works together, so with the consistent work of Jaime, other will be able to help in the extra busy times where Jaime might need some help. Although Avery performs well when under pressure, the day to day slacking would get on my nerves. To me, it also shows that they are uninterested and unmotivated, something that can bring the entire team down. Therefore, I think Jaime is still the better option to choose in this situation.
I believe a good fit job for Avery would be some sort of start up business. They may not produce something everyday, but when Avery gets going on a certain product that he is invested in, he could potentially go all out and make the next best thing, whatever industry that may be in.
On the other hand, Jaime would be a great fit for a business that is very team oriented. Like I mentioned before, if Jamie is struggling with something because he/she is extra busy, and his/her co-workers notice he/she is always working hard and has come across a tough challenge, they won’t think twice to help him/her out because they know he/she is a dedicated and hardworking team member. Being a consistent team member is a very valuable thing and can really help progress your career and help you learn new things, and makes you a more approachable and adaptable person in the workplace.
