For this weeks blog post I am discussing how compensation has resulted in incentivizing me to complete certain tasks at my job. During the Covid-19 Pandemic I worked at my Grandfather’s wholesale produce company Gatto & Sons Produce, where I worked in the accounting office managing a variety of tasks. I managed the companies payroll for drivers, ran clients credit cards and cleared balances, compiled invoices to send checks to company vendors, checked inventory, and compiled the companies month end reports. During this time I noticed that the company lacked a detailed website. I took it upon myself to create a new website for the company that clearly laid out the companies mission, history of the company being in business for 87 years, as well as the businesses we service, and along with gathering testimonials from our clients, and a way for individuals to contact the business directly from the website. I spoke with my Grandfather of how I wanted to develop the website and he told me to document the amount of hours I worked on it and he told me the rate he would pay me per hour. I will not go into detail about the rate I was given, but it greatly incentivized me to create a well constructed detailed website for the company that has a platform for any inquiries. The website has resulted in the company receiving new clients due to its stronger online presence. I did my research into the companies online presence and decided to communicate with my Grandfather about my plans and the benefits of having a strong online platform would have and as a result of him recognizing the value of this idea the rate in which I was given along with the trust he had in this idea incentivized me to create this website .
