This whole journey started in March 2020. I had attempted to embark several times, but always found myself losing interest and dropping the practice before even starting. Getting laid off at the start of the pandemic created a unique window of opportunity, and at 25, I knew that the sooner I started the odyssey the better it would be for my life. The longer I waited, the harder it would be, and the sooner I started meant the longer I benefited.
Finding and choosing OSU was a blessing. The fact that the Post-Bacc program existed was a blessing, as it fit my needs and situation perfectly, where I wanted to credibility of a full B.S. but was loathe to go through all the struggle that my first undergrad degree was. I don’t know if this would have been possible at all without the existence of the Post-Bacc program. I truly went from 0 understanding to being confident in my ability to work on a software engineering team and to build any software I can dream of with any technology I can find.
I often look back in amazement. 25 feels like a long time ago, now at 27, but it also doesn’t feel like a long time ago when I consider how much my life and opportunites have changed. I often encourage anyone who expresses interest to take the program, and to find whatever structured learning resources they can to learn computer science, as I find it overwhelmingly worth it.
