Hello and welcome to this week’s post on Chrome Extensions where I’ll be introducing my 3 most used Chrome extensions that are not ad blockers!
Full Page Screen Capture
Up first is a convenient tool for screenshotting full webpages. I use GoFullPage, but I’m sure that there are other comparable options. I was introduced to this extension as a tool for visually storing and comparing web designs. It even works for DevTools mock device displays!
Accessibility Checks
Extensions can also help check a site’s accessibility. Another extension I use when developing webpages is Accessibility Insights for Web (again there are many other options). This tool flags accessibility issues, including poor color contrasting, lack of alt image descriptions, and poor structure for screen readers. It is a simple way to help you develop more accessible webpages and includes helpful suggestions and links to documentation.
Meow, the Cat Pet
This final extension is not very useful and honestly a bit annoying at times, but it is a fun way to spice up your browser. Meow the Cat Pet adds a cute pet that walks across your browser on most pages! The cat has options to wander around your screen and give you reminders. After configuring the settings to prevent Meow from making noise, pausing in the middle of my screen, and ‘talking’ in the form of obnoxiously large speech bubbles, I’ve found this extension quite enjoyable.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little introduction to my top Chrome extensions, thanks for reading!
