Mesa Walker defended her thesis in May 2024. Dr. Walker’s dissertation was entitled “Distinctness of two pseudo-Anosov maps”. We wrote a paper We wrote a paper based in part on the dissertation, which has been accepted to appear in the Bulletin of the Mathematical Society of France. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

defended her thesis in May 2023. Dr. Yiltekin Karatas’ dissertation was entitled
“One-Parameter Deformations of the Bowen-Series Map Associated to Cocompact Triangle Groups”. We wrote a paper based in part on the dissertation, Continuous deformation of the Bowen-Series map associated to a cocompact triangle group<\/a>, \u00a0 Geom. Dedicata 218 (2024), no. 3,<\/a> Paper No. 60, 24 pp.
Dr. Yiltiken Karatas has returned to Turkey, where she is on the faculty at Bartin University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
defended his thesis in August 2022. Dr. Homsomboon’ dissertation was entitled “Explicit dynamical dystems on the Sierpinski curve”. He published an article with that title, in Indag. Math. (N.S.)<\/em><\/a> 35 (2024), no. 3,<\/a> 407\u2013433.
Brandon Edwards<\/a>
defended his thesis in March 2017, with official graduation in June 2017.
Dr. Edwards’ dissertation was entitled “A new algorithm for computing the Veech group of a translation surface”.
With Masters student Slade Sanderson, we extended the results of the thesis,
Canonical translation surfaces for computing Veech groups<\/a>, which appeared as
Geom. Dedicata<\/em><\/a> 216 (2022), no. 5,<\/a> Paper No. 60, 20 pp. Springer access:\u00a0Online copy<\/a>;
\u00a0 \u00a0 Dr. Edwards has a position with Intel Labs, researching security and privacy issues
related to the training and deployment of machine learning models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
graduated in June 2016 and is now on the faculty at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nevada.
In his Ph.D. work he both clarified the restrictions on trace fields of translation surfaces with SAF-zero pseudo-Anosov maps,
and used Rauzy-Veech graphs to determine new infinite families of SAF-zero pseudo-Anosov maps.

has returned to Thailand, where she is an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics, Kasetsart University.
Dr. Daowsud’s (2013) dissertation title was “Continued Fractions and the Divisor at Infinity on a Hyperelliptic Curve: Examples and Order Bounds”.
We extend some of Dr. Daowsud’s results in Continued fractions for rational torsion<\/a>; J. Number Theory 189 (2018), 115–130.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
is an instructor in the Department of Mathematics here at OSU.
Dr. Hatatse’s (2011) dissertation title was “Algebraic Pappus Curves”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
is an associate professor of mathematics at Lee University.
Dr. Schmurr’s (2008) dissertation title was “Triangular Billiards Surfaces and Translation Covers”.
