Stress in the Workspace

Office deadline. Business workers ...

What I learned about myself

From the Psychology Today tests I took, the results were slightly shocking to me and told me a lot about myself. From the Coping & Stress management skills test I scored a 49 and had problem-focused coping. For the Type A Personality Test I scored a 61 and had Impatience / Irritability. This was interesting for me to get these results because I have not taken a test like this before and it did open my eyes to reflect on what I would do in situations or how certain things make me feel. I learned a lot about myself from these tests and have a lot more awareness of my habits now.

Managing stress in my career

Since I did score relatively high in problem-focused coping for stress management, I believe its important for me to highlight how I can manage stress in my career because problems occur all the time and in order to be successful in a career I need a way to navigate and manage this stress. Identifying and understanding my problems and breaking them down can be the first step to recognize these stressors. I then should create a plan of action which could include creating a plan on how to deal with the problem and the steps in doing so. By following a few simple steps I believe it can help me manage my stress better and improve my performance in my career.

Developing health conditions in the workspace

I looked into an article by Umass Lowell, and they identified the short-term and long-term effects of stress from the workplace which can be very unhealthy. It’s important to manage stress because short or long-term health conditions from stress can be avoidable or diminished if coped with correctly.
