If so, become a community-based citizen scientist volunteer with the OSU Extension <strong><em>Oregon Season Tracker Program<\/em><\/strong> that connects local community volunteers with state and national researchers studying weather and the effects on native plant vegetation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We train volunteers to collect and report local data on precipitation and seasonal plant changes using simple protocols and low cost equipment.<\/li><li>Volunteers collect data from their home, farm, ranch, woodland or in schoolyards<\/li><li>Data collected is reported online to be archived and shared with researchers at OSU and across the country<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Fall is the start of the new water year and a great time to join<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Take a free on-line training at home on your own speed (approx. 2 hours)<\/li><li>Order a CoCoRaHS-approved rain gauge (approx. $35)<\/li><li>Participate in an optional Zoom meeting to build skills and get your questions answered<\/li><li>Start reporting data online from your computer or using free apps on your Smartphone<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Oregon Season Tracker Training.&nbsp; <\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online Self-paced Training:&nbsp; <\/strong>fall 2020 (self-paced open September through November)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Optional Zoom Sessions (attend one):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date: Thursday, October 29, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time:&nbsp; 6 pm \u2013 7 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Or<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date: Tuesday, November 17, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time: 2 pm \u2013 3 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To register go to the OSU Extension Oregon Season Tracker website, <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.oregonstate.edu\/ost\">https:\/\/extension.oregonstate.edu\/ost<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information contact Jody Einerson by clicking<a href=\"mailto:jody.einerson@oregonstate.edu\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.oregonstate.edu\/people\/jody-einerson\">here<\/a> or call 541-713-5014 &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you like being outdoors and the idea of contributing to scientific research?
