I’ve built so many side projects (mostly front-end) that I can’t even list all of them on my resume and there was the realization that I don’t care for aesthetics on a software application. I knew from the breadth of projects that I had built and my programming knowledge that the only viable career path for me was a Front-End developer. Which was unfortunate for me since I only enjoyed the problem solving aspect of programming. Darn, what a waste of 2 years or so I thought!

I though about going back to school but wasn’t sure if I would enjoy learning about Computer Science. After some google searching, I discovered a free MOOC from Harvard called CS50.

My plan at the time was to take this free course and if I enjoyed it, enroll in a CS program. Else, start teaching myself back-end development. To my surprise, not only was learning about Computer Science very enjoyable but the programming skill which I had developed over the past 2 years had an integral part in this field of study. I was hooked and I knew with absolute certainty after finishing CS50 that an education in CS was what I wanted. Looking back, I can proudly say that the 10 weeks I spent on CS50 was the beginning of my journey as a Computer Science student.

I finished CS50 in June 2019 and applied to Oregon State University in July 2019 and here I am in my last quarter. It has been a great journey and I look forward to the exciting future.

The year is 2019, I am now going into the 3rd year of my programming hobby/career transition and I haven’t had much luck with job interviews.
