Writing Exercise #2

Due to the relatively high-risk nature of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types 35, 39, 51 and 59, effort should be focused on creating treatment for those. The HPV vaccine that is currently distributed in the USA immunizes against HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58 (CDC). This vaccine is useful against all strains that cause ~80% of all cervical cancers, but immunizing against the other strains could be effective at reducing rates of cervical cancers caused by other types of HPV.

This treatment should take the form of a vaccine administered before most young adults are sexually active (12-15)
