My dream is to travel to Paris, France. When I was the young age of eight I had a dream to become the first teacher in Paris. That dream was crushed when I entered the third grade because I discovered teachers already existed. That though did not stop me from wanting to go. When your young you don’t really know what is there to offer or what the point of traveling to these destinations would be. It wasn’t until I was older that the whole city fascinated me. The culture to me is fascinating. In high school I took three years of French classes. During this time I learned not only about the language but also how the people live. The culture focuses on art, music, fashion, and entertainment. The French embody romance and love. These things may seem similar to the American society, but looking at photos of the Effie Tower, the cathedrals, and the architecture of every building it looks to be a beautiful place that I hope one day I can experience.

How others accomplished my goal:

Courtney Bowlden Photography says that if your going to Paris save the money on a rental car. She says it’s easy to get around by the metro or walking. She also suggests taking a bus tour the first or second day to become familiar with sights you want to go back and revisit.

In order to save money there are free Discover walks, these walks take up to about 90 minutes. If planning is done right there is also free festivals and events throughout the year. The first Sunday of each month most museums offer free entry, some only offer during off seasons, which are generally from October or November to March. If someone is interested in museums Paris offers a Museum pass, which is a discounted price that combines fees for multiple museums. To save on food On the Luce suggests eating at lunchtime rather than in the evening.

Nomadic Matt is a detailed blog in how to do five days in Paris. It is written by Nomadic Matt who has taken multiple trips to Paris, he even spent weeks at a time there. His blog helps show which days are the slowest at which attractions, which will help vacationers increase the amount of things they are able to see and do.

Barriers and Support:

While I have the support of my family, because they encourage explorations and adventures. I am still in school, and only have a job during summer and winter break. I have no financial support from anybody but myself so my financial savings are pretty minimal. I don’t know if I will have a job by the end of the summer that gives me the flexibility that I have now. A barrier that I also have is whom I would go with. I say this is a barrier because I would not want to travel abroad by myself, so I would have to find a friend who would be willing to go with me.
