Critiquing a Recruitment Ad

Connection, curiosity and courage are my 3 C’s. I am someone who values my connections with others. I find myself frequently saying that “time spent connecting is never time wasted”. I am a naturally curious person so I want to learn anything I can. With those two characteristics combined, I find myself volunteering to join committees, asking about roles that do not impact me so I can learn how my role does impact them (I am in HR, my role impacts everyone uniquely), and I am able to find resources and solutions quickly through my connections. Nobody knows everything but everyone knows something so if you have a problem, I can help you find someone or something to help you.

My greatest asset though is in my third C, courage. I recognize that there are very few lessons we learn by getting it right the first time. I have the courage to fail and in that I have the humility to say “that didn’t work, but here is what I learned, let’s try something else.” This has become my greatest strength because when you have the courage to try something new, you are able to discover solutions to problems that otherwise would continue because “that’s just how it is”.

If I was to market myself in a situation wanted ad, I would probably say something along the lines of “The solution to the problem will not be found in the same room the problem was created in. Having enough seats at the table is not the problem, the problem is that the door is locked.”
