Blog Post #3

Hello everyone,

I am back again for my 3rd and final post for my Capstone class. This time, I will be discussing my biggest success during this course.

This course hasn’t been quite what I expected, and I think my biggest success in this class and in life in general is that I am excellent at rolling with the punches.

When I was choosing which projects I was interested in, I purposefully chose all mobile-app oriented projects for my top 5 selections, hoping that no matter which one was selected for me, that I’d be able to work on a mobile stack project to round out my resume. I took OSU’s Mobile Development class and really enjoyed it, and would have liked to have a full fledged hosted mobile app would be a good challenge for myself as well. Alas, it was not to be. Although the project I ended up being assigned was initially intended to be for mobile, we ended up doing a web app instead. Only one of the other members of my group had taken the Mobile Development class, and the other 2 people weren’t comfortable trying to learn a mobile stack when we all were proficient in web development.

I ended up taking on the backend of the project. I designed and implemented a database for the group, and took care of the hosting for the site. I had to do a lot of troubleshooting and had to make sure at each step that I was informing my group members of what they had to adjust around what I was doing, such as how to run the app for local development. We still have a lot of work to do, and it is going to take many more instances of rolling with the punches for us to succeed, and I am confident that my time at OSU and in this course have prepared me for the challenged that lie ahead.

Thank you for reading, again, and wish me luck in the coming weeks as we finish out our project!
