As the showers slow and the rhodies bloom, now is a great time to grab your smartphone and head outside! Of course, this is Oregon after all, so if you look out the window and see a storm, <a title=\"BeaverTracks walking tour\" href=\"http:\/\/tour.library.oregonstate.edu\/beavertracks\">you can virtually walk<\/a> or <a title=\"About BeaverTracks\" href=\"http:\/\/osulibrary.oregonstate.edu\/beavertracks\">read about the tour<\/a> on the OSU Libraries website.<\/p>\n<p>May is <a title=\"Preservation Month 2011\" href=\"http:\/\/www.preservationnation.org\/take-action\/preservation-month\/\">Historic Preservation Month <\/a>and there is plenty to learn about the history of Oregon &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a title=\"OSU Historic Preservation \" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/facilities\/campusplng\/histpres\/index.html\">OSU Historic Preservation office<\/a>, part of OSU Facility Services, has a wonderful site with information and resources about our campus, including the Historic Preservation Plan, Historic Building Map, information about OSU as a National Historic District, and a Photo Gallery with a sampling of images from the OSU Archives Collections.<\/li>\n<li>Want to study historic preservation in a more &#8220;academicky&#8221; manner? The University of Oregon, our neighbor to the south, has a <a title=\"Historic Preservation UO\" href=\"http:\/\/hp.uoregon.edu\/\">Historic Preservation Program<\/a>, housed in the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, which offers a Master of Science in Historic Preservation as well as an Undergraduate Minor.<\/li>\n<li>The City of Corvallis has had a historic preservation program since 1982, and you can learn all about it on <a title=\"City of Corvallis historic preservation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.corvallis.or.us\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=1410&amp;Itemid=1745\">the City web site<\/a>; it is full of <a title=\"2011 historic preservation schedule Corvallis\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.corvallis.or.us\/downloads\/cd\/PLANNING\/HistoricPreservation\/HistoricPresMonth\/2011%20Schedule.pdf\">great information about May 2011 activities<\/a> to celebrate the month, as well as information about permits, contacts, resources, and a bit on the three National Register Historic Districts, Avery-Helm, College Hill West, and Oregon State University.<\/li>\n<li>The <a title=\"Oregon Heritage Commission\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonheritage.org\/\">Oregon Heritage Commission<\/a> is always good for gobs of information related to all things that support heritage, cultural, and historic preservation related activities in Oregon.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, one of my favorite resources is the <a title=\"Oregon Historic sites database\" href=\"http:\/\/heritagedata.prd.state.or.us\/historic\/\">Oregon Historic Sites Database<\/a>. It is invaluable for the information it provides based on County, city, or address searches!
