{"id":23747,"date":"2020-01-07T16:57:25","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T16:57:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/scarc\/?p=23747"},"modified":"2020-01-07T16:57:25","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T16:57:25","slug":"osu-150-archives-in-the-making","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/scarc\/2020\/01\/07\/osu-150-archives-in-the-making\/","title":{"rendered":"OSU 150: Archives in the Making"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In 2017 and 2018, Oregon State University commemorated its 150<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary with the OSU 150 celebration.\u00a0 This experience consisted of several events over the course of the year, recognizing the abundant contributions made by OSU, including festivals recognizing OSU\u2019s land, sea, space, and sun grants. <a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0 Though the celebrations wrapped up in 2019, memorabilia left behind will be preserved in the Special Collections and Archives Research Center (SCARC), as well as online through the Sesquicentennial Oral History Project.<a href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a>\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The materials collected from the OSU 150 celebration represent years of planning from many different individuals and departments across campus.\u00a0 The anniversary opened in August 2017 and continued through October 2018 with the goals to, \u201ccelebrate and commemorate OSU and its unique land grant mission; inform, inspire and engage diverse audiences; and distinguish what makes OSU unique now and in the future.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a>\u00a0 Special Collections hosted its own cache of events, including the book launch of <em>The People\u2019s School: A History of Oregon State University, <\/em>with a lively discussion by author William G.
