Implicit Bias

The implicit bias test often shows those that feel that are not bias whatsoever that they have biases that they are not even aware of. The stability of this test is also known as low because it can be taken a few weeks apart with different results. There is also many different types of implicit bias tests that can be taken for different subject areas.

Reliability and validity of the selection process in regards to implicit bias is extremely important to consider. If employers have implicit bias in regards to certain cultures or races, it may impact how they feel towards candidates. This can affect who is selected during hiring processes without any other circumstances being considered. This is not a good way to go about business but it can be unavoidable if people are not aware of their implicit biases.

Preventing and counteracting implicit bias begins with awareness for the biases that you may have without being aware of. Implicit bias can be created through past experiences or what others around you believe. Counteracting implicit biases can begin with understanding first what you believe then learning more about the truth behind what you are feeling. If you dislike a certain culture for reasons that are not fully understood, you can do a better job of gaining more knowledge towards these ideas. This is a great movement forwards towards ending implicit biases.
