It’s been quite the experience working with our capstone recently. After a rough start, our team has gotten some momentum.
How do you work through being “stuck” on a problem?
So this is one of the biggest things I’ve had to figure out when approaching our project. One of the biggest things is definitely been cross referencing between the frontend and backend to see if the API calls have the same logic. Right now, I’ve been stuck figuring out why my “CREATE USER” function hasn’t been working. I’ve realized now that, despite calling the same API endpoint, the frontend sends much different data than the backend is asking for when doing a “/users” POST operation.
I also realize it’s much better to tell my team when I have “blockers” so that they can give any input they have, even if they haven’t directly worked with the code or problem that I’m working on. Additionally, youtube tutorials have proven to be a godsend.
How do you approach learning something new, like a new technology? / Do you use chatGPT or other AI tools?
I linked these two questions together because they’re so linked! I really love using chatGPT to quickly parse website documentations and technologies to give me summaries of how certain functions work. It’s a great way to condense information, I prefer reading to listening, so I find it preferable to Youtube provided chatGPT gives the correct information. Of course, you have to hope that it’s correct, so often you have to read the documentation or watch another tutorial anyway.
The project is coming along together, we hope we can finish strong.
