I think that my biggest success from this course is learning and successfully integrating many technologies I had not used before. Before this course, I had not used Flask or SQlite before, having mainly used node.js, javascript, and MongoDB in the past when working on websites or databases. Working in a team environment such as this class with a set-in-stone timetable for when the project needed to be done I was worried that I would struggle to work with these technologies in an effective manner having not used them before. I believe that my big breakthrough when it came to succeeding in this course with these technologies came in how I handled my studying/work every week. I used a progress-based research strategy where I would focus my research on the area I was currently assigned to work on and learn the technologies as I went. This strategy worked amazingly and as I got more and more experience using it I was able to pick them up quickly. I learned a lot about these technologies and was able to implement some major parts of or web application including the database using SQLite and the main matching system we are using for our animal adoption service. What I learned about myself in this course is that I am a lot more capable programmer than I believed myself to be and that I can work well in a team environment. I learned that having a group that I work well with is an amazing tool to succeed and expand my skill set even more. This course has helped me to clear out the thought of imposter syndrome that I had been having and replace them with confidence about my future.
