Critiquing a Recruitment Ad

After reflecting for a bit on how to answer the prompt, I concluded that my personal brand revolves most around my drive to help others and work with my colleagues to achieve a mutual goal. What matters most to me is the difference I make, big or small in my professional life. I’m incredibly motivated by the effect I can have on others, and being a positive influence. The first impression I hope to present to potential employers is my drive to lead others to success.

My strengths are my optimism, confidence, attention to detail, and drive to get things done right the first time. I’m a strong believer that any job worth doing is worth doing well, which in a way makes me different from some of the other candidates. Many people will rush to get things done, disregarding the quality of the work, which is something they won’t have to worry about with me. My weaknesses are that I’m a perfectionist and sometimes can put too much on my plate instead of letting others take the reigns. I worry that others’ definition of good quality won’t be up to par with mine sometimes.

I would present myself in a novel and creative situation ad by providing a pre-recorded elevator speech. In the day of technology, it may be concluded that video advertisements would be the most effective. Through a video, potential employers would be able to see my demeanor, body language, and hear my strong suits straight from me. Anybody can type up a document stating how they portray themselves, but I would rather prove it. I know for me personally that putting a face to the name makes me remember someone so much more. I feel as though it’s easier to sound more sincere via video as well. I would also like to emphasize the importance of making the video brief and to the point, which is why I chose to do an elevator speech to present myself.
