The purpose of the rhetorical precis is to offer a short account of an article that does more than summarize the content. The rhetorical precis, which is four sentences long, accounts for the author and his or her main assertion, the way the author develops or supports the thesis, the author’s purpose in writing, and a description of the intended audience and relationship the author establishes with the audience
A longitudinal study by Sven Eric Olson and other colleagues entitled “Long-term immunogenicity, effectiveness, and safety of nine-valent human papillomavirus vaccine in girls and boys 9 to 15 years of age: Interim analysis after 8 years of follow-up” (2020), Olsson et al. asserts that the 9vHPV vaccine provided sustained immunogenicity and durable effectiveness through approximately 7 and 8 years, respectively, following vaccination of girls and boys aged 9–15 years. The study assessed the immunogenicity and safety of the 9vHPV vaccine from day 1 through month 36 (base study), the 9vHPV vaccine elicited HPV antibodies that persisted through at least month 90 (7 years post-Dose 3). The purpose of this long term study was to understand the short and long term efficacy and safety of the 9vHPV vaccine in ages 9 to 15 years of age in both boys and girls, and so that we may understand and trust the safety in the HPV vaccine in young ages. Olsson establishes a scholarly relationship with academics both in microbiology research, as well as public health and biological sciences.
