Abstract freedom with designing a protein that has yet to be fully figured out is scary. In conclusion, I decided to choose a new protein. Unfortunately, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/neuro\/journal\/v11\/n8\/abs\/nn.2160.html\">pikachurin<\/a>&#8216;s structure has yet to be discovered, and\u00a0 so I settled with a\u00a0 new protein of choice, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcsb.org\/pdb\/explore\/explore.do?structureId=2IOV\">dronpa<\/a>. It is a man-made protein mutant of green fluorescent proteins from coral. I thought its ability to switch from a fluorescent to non-fluorescent state was pretty sweet.
