Interferon – Gamma Properties:
\nIFN – gamma is a 4 subunit glycoprotein that functions in the immune system as a cytokine, or signaling molecule. It weighs about 64 kDa and is in the “all alpha” domain. One of its functions is that it is secreted by Helper T cells in order to activate macrophages, which destroy pathogens. It also positively regulates production of IL-6 and IL-12, which are pro-inflammatory cytokines. It also plays a role in antibody production by plasma cells.<\/p>\n

Design for protein:
\nI will be using “lab junk” to construct my protein. It will involve pipet wrappers, wire, and painted pipet tips (for side chain interaction).<\/p>\n
