She has a strong interest in paleoclimate and has been doing research with the P-mag lab since January 2019. Saray is working with an ocean sediment core from Willapa Canyon that was thought to have an inactive canyon system over the Holocene; however, the core’s layers and chronology show that is not the case. Saray’s research project explores the Willapa Canyon’s system triggers and past climate events that have caused it to “turn on and off”. Aside from from her research she enjoys being a part of the marching band, being a peer mentor for Latino/a students, and visiting the local animal shelter.

Angelica Robles

REU 2017

Angelica worked with the P-mag Lab during the summer of 2017, visiting from Puerto Rico. She sailed on the Oceanus to investigate sediments deposited on the Cascadia Margin during OC1706B (Co-Chief Scientists Walczak/Stoner). Her research focused on the sedimentology and particle size variations of short cores recovered from the continental shelf.

Benjamin Wheeler

Undergraduate Employee 2016 -2017

Ben studied geology while at Oregon State.
