Welcome to my blog! My name is Theresa Phan. This is Blog Post #1 for CS467.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What got you started with computers or software?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n My first bachelor’s degree was in chemistry. I worked in the industry for a few years and realized this career path was not for me. I wanted a career change so I looked into programming. I’ve always loved technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n After completing a few online tutorials in Python, I discovered I enjoyed it. I ultimately decided I want to work in the software industry. Thus, my journey to obtain my second bachelor’s in computer science at Oregon State University begins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Current job or internship?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During the program, I was able to land an internship in the summer of 2022. I enjoyed it very much! I gained both professional experience and learned new technologies. Currently, I work part-time as a lab assistant at a genomics lab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Technology Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During my time at the internship, I worked with React, Node.js, Springboot, and PostgreSQL. The only technology I was familiar with was Node.js. It was challenging, but also fun to learn React, Springboot, and PostgreSQL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Going into the internship, I was ecstatic to be on a team that primarily focused on front-end development. However, my time at the internship made me realized I did not like front-end development as much as I thought I did. Although I enjoyed making a full-stack application for the duration of my project, I did not like working on the UI. I preferred working on the back-end part of the project instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kids, pets, hobbies, sports, games, activities, etc?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Outside of work and school, I enjoy baking, hiking, going to the gym, and reading.
