ICHTHYOPLANKTON LAB AND WORKSHOP
July 24 to August 18 2023
Students (FW 529) Non-degree seeking participants
FW 529 Ichthyoplankton Taxonomy & Identification Lab takes place from July 24 to August 18 with a 6-day intensive on-campus component in the second week (July 31 to August 5) dedicated to the systematics and identification of larval fishes. The workshop for non-degree seeking participants takes place from July 31 to August 5. The goal is to equip participants with a skill set in identification of ichthyoplankton to family level or a lower taxonomic level. The lab will include daily lectures on taxonomic groups of marine fishes with the focal point on their larval characters. Participants are welcome to bring unidentified ichthyoplankton samples or mixed species lots to the course to help with their identification.

FOR NON-DEGREE SEEKING PARTICIPANTS: Course fees are $ 1000 (does not include room and board), and it is limited to fifteen participants. The deadline for registration is June 30. Please, fill out this short Application form and email it to peter.konstantinidis@oregonstate.edu before June 30. Details about the payment will be arranged after signing up.

USEFUL INFORMATION:
Transportation to and from Corvallis
Eugene (EUG) and Portland (PDX) are the airports to fly in to. There is a shuttleservice from and to the airports. The BOLT Bus works well from and to Seattle. However, the BOLT Bus does not stop in Corvallis and you need to arrange a ride from and to Albany.
Housing in Corvallis
Besides AirBnB there are several hotels available. The Hilton Garden Inn is about 10 walking minutes away from Nash Hall. OSU has Scholar Housing for short-term visits available. The minimum stay is three nights and you have to fill out a Reservation Form that can be found on the link above.
FW 528: DIVERSITY AND IDENTIFICATION OF LARVAL FISHES
(E-CAMPUS)
The course is more comprehensive than the workshop (FW529) and includes lectures and discussion of morphology, systematics, sampling techniques, and curatorial challenges.
