AI will change education even more fundamentally than the internet did. The magnitude of these changes calls for a broad, sweeping view of what will come next, and what changes as a result of AI\u2019s presence and undeniability.&nbsp;\u2014Yee, Uttich, Giltner, &amp; Bojanowski,<em> Coach for the Approach<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The OSU Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Ecampus invite you to register to participate in our Fall \u201925 AI Book Club. Participants will collaboratively annotate and discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/stars.library.ucf.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=1100&amp;context=oer\"><em>Coach for the Approach: The Educator\u2019s New Role in the Age of AI<\/em><\/a>, a short book that explores ethical responsibilities and considerations related to AI in higher education instruction as well as practical teaching methods for motivating students to learn in an AI-infused educational landscape. This book club is intended for faculty, instructors, and GTAs who are <strong>new to exploring AI<\/strong> and want to engage in learning about it with other peers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Structure<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The AI Book Club will begin during the week of October 19 (week 4) and continue through the week of November 17 (week 8). Participants will have access to a digital copy of the OER book <a href=\"https:\/\/stars.library.ucf.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=1100&amp;context=oer\"><em>Coach for the Approach: The Educator\u2019s New Role in the Age of AI<\/em><\/a> to read and annotate asynchronously using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perusall.com\/student-collaboration-tools\">Perusall<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book club will meet three times during Fall \u201925 to discuss the book and strategies to build AI literacy and enhance teaching and learning through the use of generative AI. There will be two different subgroups of the book club, with one running in-person and one meeting via Zoom. On the registration form, you will have the opportunity to note your availability and preferred group:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Group A: Zoom meetings on Tuesdays, 9 to 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 21, Nov. 4 and Nov. 18<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Group B: Corvallis campus meetings (LINC 468) on Wednesdays, 2 to 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 22, Nov. 5 and Nov. 19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expectations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Book club participants are expected to attend all three sessions of their section and to regularly engage with the text via Perusall between sessions throughout Fall \u201925.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Oregon State University fixed-term and tenured\/tenure-track faculty who regularly teach credit-based courses are eligible to apply, as well as OSU Graduate Teaching Assistants who regularly teach or assist with OSU courses. Participants new to using AI are the target audience for this book club and no Perusall experience is required.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Extended deadline!<\/strong> To sign up for the book club, please <a href=\"https:\/\/oregonstate.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_79h1Hnc2fdxOLhc\">register<\/a> no later than <strong>Friday, Oct. 10.<\/strong> Registration is first come, first served and space is limited.
