{"id":1262,"date":"2020-02-11T16:15:27","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T00:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/osuteaching\/?p=1262"},"modified":"2023-12-08T15:58:12","modified_gmt":"2023-12-08T23:58:12","slug":"call-for-proposals-spring-2020-pilotthe-applying-learning-technology-community-alt-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/osuteaching\/2020\/02\/11\/call-for-proposals-spring-2020-pilotthe-applying-learning-technology-community-alt-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Proposals (Spring 2020 pilot): The Applying Learning Technology Community &#8212; @ALT Community"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Spring 2020 pilot of the Applying Learning Technology &#8212; @ALT Community will provide an opportunity for faculty participants to meet regularly to learn about and reflect on their teaching, with a focus on effective uses of learning technologies.&nbsp; Community participants will investigate and provide learning technology solutions to a significant teaching-related problem of their choosing, as well as present\/showcase their project deliverable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OSU\u2019s Center for Teaching and Learning and Academic Technology will provide $500 in professional development funds to faculty who:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fully participate in all meetings and online learning activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a plan for implementing their project deliverable in a Fall 2020 face-to-face course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Present their project deliverable at the final (Showcase) meeting in June.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as an ambassador for effective uses of ed tech within their academic unit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The @ALT faculty learning community will include 5 face-to-face meetings as well as online learning activities.<br><u>Meetings will be Wednesdays, 2:00-3:30 p.m., on Apr. 8 and 22, May 6 and 20, and June 3<\/u>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Space is limited for the Spring 2020 pilot; selection of participants will be based on the faculty member\u2019s proposal. Individual or teams of instructors and tenured\/tenure-track faculty who teach on-campus (or on-campus hybrid), credit-based courses are eligible to participate. All proposals will be considered. Faculty with minimal experience implementing instructional technology or who have not yet engaged in OSU teaching-related professional development are particularly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Proposal Guidelines:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit a narrative proposal of 1 full page, including these items in the following order:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your contact information and position title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A description of your experience with learning technologies, such as Canvas, Top Hat, or&nbsp;Gradescope. Instructors with little experience or comfort using these technologies in their teaching are encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify a challenge in your teaching that might be addressed by incorporating a new technology tool or by changing the way you\u2019re currently using a particular tool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify a course to be taught in Fall 2020 in which the ed tech solution will be implemented; provide the course designator and expected enrollment in the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One or two sentences on each of the following topics:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Why you are interested in participating in the Spring 2020 pilot of the Applying Learning Technology \u2013 @ALT Community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preliminary ideas for&nbsp;how instructional tech tool(s) will address the identified challenge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\">\n<li>Additionally, submit a statement from your supervisor that includes both:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support for your participation in the Spring 2020 learning community pilot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approval to implement your project deliverable in the identified course in Fall 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submission of Proposals&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please upload your proposal and statement of support by Sunday, March 15, 2020 here: <a href=\"https:\/\/beav.es\/4oR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/beav.es\/4oR<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email questions to <a href=\"mailto:Lyn.Riverstone@oregonstate.edu\">Lyn.Riverstone@oregonstate.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Announcement of Award&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decisions will be announced Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
