{"id":834,"date":"2013-05-28T11:29:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T18:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/osucws\/?p=834"},"modified":"2013-10-24T18:50:54","modified_gmt":"2013-10-25T01:50:54","slug":"adaptive-content-how-drupalcon-2013-made-me-really-happy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/osucws\/drupal\/adaptive-content-how-drupalcon-2013-made-me-really-happy\/","title":{"rendered":"Adaptive Content: How Drupalcon 2013 Made Me Really Happy!"},"content":{"rendered":"[youtube\u00a0http:\/\/youtu.be\/iUglNnO0s5M]\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The close of Drupalcon 2013, held in Portland, has left me with lingering, fond memories of 3,300 nerds gathered in a glowing Drupalicious camaraderie.\u00a0 The convention was a great success, despite the rain and ever present Wi-Fi issues.<\/p>\n<p>So what, you may ask, was my personal highlight?\u00a0 Maybe it was the tantalizing sneak previews of Drupal 8 with all its built-in mobile goodness?\u00a0 Perhaps it was the really excellent sessions that were provided in the brand new and much needed Education and Government track?\u00a0 Or, was it possibly getting my photo taken with User-1 himself, Dries Buytaert, and giving him some of our very own OSU Drupal swag?<\/p>\n<p>These were all great things.\u00a0 Really they were.\u00a0 But, ultimately, they all pale in comparison to the keynote address given on Day Two, in my eyes at least.<\/p>\n<p>This particular keynote, <a title=\"Karen McGrane Keynote, Notes, and Slide Set\" href=\"http:\/\/karenmcgrane.com\/2013\/05\/23\/drupalcon-keynote-video-and-talk-notes\/\">&#8220;Thriving in a World of Change: Future-Friendly Content with Drupal&#8221;<\/a>, was presented by Karen McGrane, a world-renowned user-experience designer and content strategist who has led content projects for The New York Times, Conde Nast, and Time.\u00a0 In addition to spearheading projects for enormous publishing corporations, she&#8217;s also a managing partner at Bond Art + Science, a UX consultancy she founded in 2006, and she teaches Design Management in the Interaction Design MFA program for the School of Visual Arts in Manhatten.<\/p>\n<p>In short, this lady knows her stuff, folks.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re a content author, site architect, or web developer on any platform, I strongly suggest taking a peek at what she has to say regarding content structure and strategy.\u00a0 You will leave more informed.\u00a0 You might even be a little entertained.\u00a0 You certainly won&#8217;t be sorry.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the actual keynote begins at 11:30 minutes into the video.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[youtube\u00a0http:\/\/youtu.be\/iUglNnO0s5M] &nbsp; The close of Drupalcon 2013, held in Portland, has left me with lingering, fond memories of 3,300 nerds gathered in a glowing Drupalicious camaraderie.\u00a0 The convention was a great success, despite the rain and ever present Wi-Fi issues.
