Join Our Peer Advisor Team!

The Office of Student Success is accepting applications for Peer Advisors for the 2020-2021 academic year! Peer Advisors are responsible for working at the front desk of the Office of Student Success, supporting fellow students with registration, job prep, and more. Peers also perform tours and assist with outreach during orientations and other campus visits. Apply or ask questions today! Deadline to apply is January 17, 2020.

Visit with Dean Nieto

On January 21st from 6-7:00 pm in Women’s Building 210, undergraduate students in the CPHHS are welcome to engage in an informal conversation with Dean Javier Nieto. This is a great time to share your experience as a student, ask questions, and offer suggestions. Snacks with be provided!

Summer Research Experience at the University of Arizona

Gain experience in research in Cancer Prevention and Control this summer! STEP-UP is looking for outstanding upperclassman undergraduate and Master’s level students from diverse backgrounds to participate in a paid, 12-week transformative research experience in cancer prevention and control science.  They particularly encourage applications from students from underrepresented, disadvantaged, non-traditional or first-generation college backgrounds or who attend schools with limited research opportunities. Research Participants Wanted

Researchers from Oregon State University and Northern Illinois University are seeking participants in a study examining the physical and cognitive demands during Virtual (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) interactions. They hope the results of this study will help us evaluate the current VR/AR interfaces and potentially lead to the recommendation of more comfortable VR/AR user interface to improve the comfort and health of users. Research will be conducted at Occupational Ergonomics and Biomechanics Laboratory (OEB Lab) at OSU. The study will last up to 3 hours and participants will be paid $60. Public Health Leadership Training Opportunity

The University of California Davis MIND Institute has a great opportunity for those who are in public health or a related field and interested in leadership training in the area of maternal and child health focusing on social determinants of health, elimination of health disparities, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Participants will gain experience in clinical and research leadership, along with community engagement and advocacy. A $3,500 stipend is provided for Kennedy Krieger Institute and University of South Dakota (10-week) and $3,000 is provided for University of California (8-week) program participants. Transportation and housing for the CDC visit are paid by the program. Consortium site housing and round-trip travel for out-of-state scholars are also available. The Office of Admissions is seeking qualified, currently enrolled undergraduates to serve as paid TOUR Ambassadors for the 2020-2021 school year. OSU TOUR Ambassadors and Diversity TOUR Ambassadors conduct campus and housing tours, represent OSU during recruiting events & open houses, and have weekly hours working in the Welcome Center. Successful candidates enjoy working with people, have a wide range of OSU experiences, and a willingness to share these experiences with prospective students and their families. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. The application closes January 26th.

Video Fellowship for Students

OSU Productions is offering a student media fellowship to inspire the next generation of stroytellers. This program requires no experience! Students will receive a $1000 stipend to create a science film, hands-on learning experience, and mentorship and training. The deadline is January 17th, 2020. Become an Academic Coach or Strategist

The ASC is currently hiring student coaches and strategists. Working at the Academic Success Center gives students a great skillset for future positions and gives them the opportunity to help fellow students feel supported on campus. Join Community and Engagement and Leadership as a Site Leader for the Dr. Martin Luther King’s Day of Service, on January 18th, 2020! The Day of Service is an opportunity for individuals to come together and honor the legacy of Dr. King. There are various options to choose from as a Site Leader, along with a 2-hour training. Apply for the Summer Health Professions Education Program

The application for the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is now open! This is a free six week summer program for first and second year college students from underrepresented and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in health careers. Room and board is free and students are paid a $600 stipend. Students will have the opportunity to make connections and learn about careers in the health field! Deadline to apply is February 5, 2020.

Study Abroad Open Advising Event

Are you interested in going abroad in 2020? Take the first step in the process and RSVP to the open advising event on January 15, 2020, from 11-1:00 pm in the MU Horizon Room. Lunch will be provided and students will be able to ask all of their questions about Study Abroad, Faculty Led Programs, and International Internships.

SDO Recruitment: Women in STEM

Sigma Delta Omega (SDO) is an unhoused, interest-based, social sorority here at Oregon State for womxn in STEM. SDO’s main focuses are encouraging academic excellence, professional development, and community service. Their philanthropy is OSU STEM Academy, which aims to provide K-12 STEM programs here in the Corvallis area. The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Cycle is going on now! Applications will be accepted until Saturday, February 15th, 2020. These scholarships will be for the 2020-2021 academic year. By submitting this one application, you will be considered for hundreds of OSU scholarship opportunities!

Join IMPACT 4 Life

IMPACT 4 Life is looking for 2020 winter session volunteers. With this program, volunteers work with people with disabilities in exercise programs around Corvallis. No experience is needed and volunteers will be trained. Orientation was Friday, January 10th, but they still need volunteers! Contact Kayla Linland if you are interested.
