The program is offered through one of OSU’s professors in conjunction with Global Education Oregon (GEO). During the program, student’s can earn 18-22 upper division/bacc core credits, or credits towards the WGSS minor/major. You will be taking 3 WGSS courses and can elect to take another liberal arts course from a British faculty member at GEO’s London Centre or do an internship with a human rights organization in London. If you’re interested and would like some more information, there will be a Zoom session held on February 3 at 9:00 am PST. 2021 Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship

The OSU Alumni Association and Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) are excited to accept applications for the Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship. This fund was dedicated in order to provide scholarships for OSU students who are in their sophomore, junior, or senior year, and who are actively involved in activities beyond coursework, demonstrating that they are committed to learning and contributing outside the classroom to the OSU and/or local community. This scholarship currently accepts applications through OSU’s Scholar Dollars system. Students from all OSU campuses are eligible to apply. Six (6) students will be awarded a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00. Award recipients will also have the option of being featured in the Create Your Own Story (CYOS) story sharing series coordinated by Community Engagement & Leadership if they so choose. Award recipients will receive the full $1,000.00 financial award regardless of whether they decide to be recognized and featured through the CYOS story sharing series. An award recipient’s decision to participate in the CYOS story sharing series has no bearing on their reception of the scholarship. The application deadline is Monday, February 15, so be sure to get your applications in before then. For more details on the scholarship, visit OSU Scholar Dollars or contact Peter Wilkinson.

Grad Inspire

Sigride Jenniska Asseko, a doctoral student in public health from CPHHS, is one of four current graduate students from Oregon State University partaking in an event called “Grad Inspire”. During this webinar, they will share the questions and motivations framing their research in an 8 to 10-minute engaging format. Grad Inspire combines scholarship communication with personal narrative, giving us a glimpse of not only “how” these students perform their work, but also the motivations and commitment behind it. This event introduces the phenomenal breadth of research, teaching, and discovery undertaken by graduate students at Oregon State. The webinar is taking place February 25 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. If you’re interested in attending this event, be sure to register for the webinar here.

Togetherall: A Peer-to-Peer mental health resource

We know this year has been tough and as a student, you are likely juggling a lot of mixed emotions right now. This is why Oregon State University has chosen to partner with a company providing virtual peer-to-peer mental health and wellbeing support- Togetherall. Togetherall’s online community is clinically moderated by mental health professionals, and offers students a safe and anonymous place to express their thoughts, concerns and triumphs. Resources are FREE for students (aged 16+) to use and are available 24/7/365. Students are able to draw strength and insights from peers that have real lived experiences, as well as access a range of self-directed, clinically validated tools to promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Nutrition and Dietetics Club

Interested in the fields of Nutrition and Dietetics? Look no further than the Nutrition and Dietetics club, a club focused on professional development in those areas specifically. We want to help students navigate the major and develop their resumes through volunteer, leadership, and job opportunities. We connect with local registered dietitians, dietitians on campus, and other nutrition and dietetics professionals to give students insight as to what a career in nutrition looks like. For those going the dietetics route we connect with internship coordinators to provide insight to students on their specific programs, what they have to offer, and advice for students wanting to apply. The overarching goal of NDC is to better prepare students for their path through the undergraduate programs at OSU as well as their post-grad ventures. For more information, contact the president, TerraAnne Johnson, or the faculty advisor, Neilann Horner Ph.D., MPH, RD. You can also check out the Facebook, Instagram, and website for the NDC.

Academic Year 2021-2022 Scholarships

Are you looking for scholarships to help pay for your tuition and fees next school year? This year, you will be able to search for both OSU scholarships and external (non-OSU) scholarships using ScholarDollars. The application is open now and will close February 15, 2021 for the College of Public Health and Human Sciences.  Start your application now (or during the winter break), and don’t wait until the last minute! All submitted CPHHS applications will be carefully reviewed by a committee of CPHHS faculty members across the college, and once your application is submitted, you won’t be able to edit it. Additionally, if you are an AY20-21 CPHHS scholarship recipient, your scholarship award(s) is not renewable, so we encourage everyone to apply for the AY21-22 scholarships. If you have any questions regarding the CPHHS undergraduate scholarships, please feel free to email our scholarship coordinator, Niddy Lindsley.
