Winter Term Registration

Winter Term Registration is here! Have you met with your advisor to plan classes for the term? If not, make your appointment today! Please be advised, all CPHHS students are required to meet with an Academic Advisor in order to get a Winter REG PIN. Also, check your priority registration day in your MyOSU account. Phase I begins November 17th and Phase II begins December 5th. You can also use Scheduler in the Registration Tools box in MyOSU to make finding the right schedule for you easy!

Call for Poster Proposals: Oregon Parenting Educators Conference

The Oregon Parenting Educators Conference is inviting undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and the greater parenting education community to present and share posters at their annual conference on May 18, 2020. Posters will be displayed by their authors for 45 minutes from 8-8:45 am on the day of the conference. Posters should focus on parenting, parenting education, early childhood education, child development, families, and related to the Parenting Education Core Areas. The due date for Poster Proposals is February 5, 2020 by email to Shauna Tominey.

OSU Women’s Giving Circle Grant

The OSU Women’s Giving Circle grant is now accepting applications for 2020. Founded in the spring of 2003 by a group of OSU alumnae and friends, the Women’s Giving Circle has awarded nearly $1,000,000 in grants to more than 140 projects that enhance the undergraduate experience, directly impact as many OSU students as possible, and improve student retention. Last year, the Women’s Giving Circle awarded more than $74,000 to eleven OSU programs. Apply for a grant by Monday, January 13, 2020 by 9:00 am. Grants will be awarded in May 2020.

Youth Basketball Coaches Needed

Corvallis Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteer youth basketball coaches for winter 2020! Coaches needed for COED teams for grades K-8. Practices begin January 6, 2020 and will go through Mid March. It only takes four hours a week made up of one practice during the week and one game on Saturdays. Advocate Social Justice Education at OSU

Join one, or more, of OSU’s social justice retreats: Racial Aikido, Multiracial Aikido, Examining White Identity, and International Student Social Justice Retreat. These are all weekend long retreats that promote campus dialogues about race and racism through active exploration of how both of these concepts influence our lived experiences and interactions. Priority deadline is December 1st, 2019, so apply today!

NUTR 299: Healthy Meal Planning

Apply healthy eating guidelines and meal planning techniques using hands on learning activities in NUTR 299. If you want to talk about food, learn about meal planning, and practice preparing and eating healthy meals and snacks, this class is for you! Prerequisites include HHS 231, and NUTR 225 or NUTR 240. The CRN is 38397 and will meet every other Friday, 10-11:50 am during Winter Term.

H 494/594: Applied Ergonomics

Learn about ergonomics for managing optimal worker performance and well-being. This course will have various hands-on activities in and outside of the classroom, covering various ergonomics assessment tools and applications ranging from semi-trucks to computer user interfaces. This course will be offered Winter Term on Mondays, 4-6:50 pm in Waldo 329, with Dr. Jay Kim.

The Truth About Vaping

Join the ASOSU, the CPHHS, Benton County Health Department, and Student Health Services to learn from researchers and health professionals in an informational panel discussing the risks and realities of vaping. This event will be on Tuesday, November 19th, from 4-5:00 pm in SEC 112. Free food provided!

OSU Institute for Healthcare Improvement

The OSU-IHI Club is hosting a professional Q & A panel with local health care professionals focusing on a pillar of the quadruple aim. This term, they will be discussing strategies for improving population health. Plus, they will have free pizza! Join the OSU-IHI on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 5:00 pm in Waldo 400.

OSU Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is a campus resource for all students to learn how to learn throughout their academic careers. They support students with practicing skills and habits for academic success by providing study tips, free tutoring, and guidance on how to reach your academic goals during your time at OSU. Visit them in Waldo Hall 125 for free resources that will help you succeed!
