Examining White Identity Spring Student Series

This 3 part series is designed for White-identified students to deepen their understanding of and commitment to racial justice work and anti-racism practice. This offering is part of a movement to grow a community of White-identified students committed to racial justice at OSU. The series takes place March 30, April 6, and April 13 from 5-7 pm PST. Student Health Advisory Board Recruitment

Oregon State’s Student Health Advisory Board is now recruiting students to join! This board serves as a link between Student Health Services and the student community here at OSU. They are looking for students who express the desire to promote health and well-being through health equity and advocacy of the Oregon State University community, and express interest in health policy and the administrative side of healthcare. Job Opportunity: Student Project Assistant for the Academic Success Center’s Workshop Program

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is hiring a graduate student to facilitate academic success workshops in support of the ASC’s workshop program. The person in this position will engage students to help them learn about academic success topics such as time management, test preparation, concentration and distraction, and more. The successful candidate will receive in-depth training in each of the academic success topics offered, as well as training in facilitation techniques, and support throughout the process. Coalition of Community Health Clinics Summer 2021 Internship

The Coalition of Community Health Clinics (CCHC) is a non-profit organization that serves a network of seventeen non-profit community health clinics that provide a range of health and preventive services for low-income, uninsured, and under-served community members. This Summer 2021, they are offering a paid Data and Program internship. It would consist of around 10-12 hours per week from June-September. The internship position plays a key role in helping us collect, analyze, and report annual data from each of their member clinics, culminating in their Annual Report in the Fall. It’s a great opportunity to learn and contribute to
helping them share the impact their clinics are making in the community. Undergraduate and Graduate students, Non-traditional students, people who are looking for or have some non-profit experience, grant-writing experience, or data collection and analysis are encouraged to apply. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this internship will be happening remotely for the time being. Virtual Education Career Fair and Workshops

Thinking of going into education in the future? OSU is hosting a few virtual career fairs and workshops to help prepare you. The virtual career fair is on Tuesday, March 16 from 3-5pm (register here). There will be teaching opportunities for credentialed and non-credentialed teachers throughout Oregon and the United States, as well as school counseling positions.  This is a great opportunity for students to network with schools before attending the Oregon Professional Educator Fair on April 6th. To prepare for the event there is also a “Interview Skills for Educators” workshop happening on Wednesday, March 10 from 4-5 pm (register here) These events are free for all OSU students to attend!

Course Offering: HEST 320, Engineering for Global Health Students

Still looking for another course to take this spring? Consider HEST 320! This course is an introduction to the critical processes and drivers involved in the development of engineering solutions to address global health problems. Topics include world health challenges, accessing and interpreting health and economic data, basic healthcare systems around the
world, the importance of ethical guidelines in ensuring the protection of human subjects, the process of cost-effectiveness assessment of technology, and the timescale and hurdles to adoption of technology. It also fulfills the STS Bacc Core requirement. The course runs every Tuesday/Thursday from 10-11:20am. If you have any questions about the class, contact Elain Fu, the course instructor.

KIN 370H: Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity

Looking for another honors class to add? KIN 370 will be offered at the honors level this spring. The lecture is from 2-3:20 pm on Tuesday/Thursday. In this course, you will examine a variety of psychological theories that apply to motivation and behavior change with a focus on physical activity behavior. You will have the opportunity to learn and practice interpersonal skills to use when working with future clients. The class will be taught through a combination of case studies, role plays, interactive assignments, and lectures. The only restriction is you must be sophomore standing. Non-honors students and non-KIN majors with a 3.25 GPA may email their request to join an honors course to uhcadvisor@oregonstate.edu.
